Last weekend, my wife needed an outing so I took her to the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountain Winery: Byington. It is quite a drive getting there through windy mountain roads. But once you arrive, the view is great and the wine isn't bad too. Here are some photos from our short adventure!
Wow - it's been some times since I've blogged! Life has picked up a lot with work, going back to school, football, and purchasing a house! We have had less time to go on fun corvette adventures - but I still enjoy driving the corvette in the every day activities.

The summer has gone by quick. Work, family and friends have been keeping us busy. But in the fall, it will become even more busy as I head back to school. My wife insisted before school starts, I must take her to Lodi to go wine tasting. I like to make my wife happy so we took a little adventure. Lodi is only 1.5 hours away, so the drive there was not bad at all. The wine tasting is great as well! Many wineries don't have tasting fees or charge a mere $5 fee that is refundable if you buy a bottle of wine. Many wineries also pair their wine with foods or chocolates. The wines are great too! Napa often uses many of the grapes Lodi produces so it's really high class. We passed some windmills on the way over and were so happy to see them actually working. Every other time we've driven by they have been still.
Our friends Matt & Christine have a fun sports car too. They don't just have one - they actually have two! We went on a Corvette-Lotus double date earlier this year and had so much fun we wanted to do it again with their other car - the Honda S2000. Matt really enjoyed a drive through the hills to Livermore so we decided to take that route. It was a beautiful day but it was hot! And we weren't getting much wind because it was a windy road and I had to take the curves slow - so we were hot!!!!
After a great visit in San Diego, it was hard to leave. But my wife and I were excited to explore some other CA cities on the way home: Santa Barbara & Solvang. Driving through LA was the worst. It was around noon on a weekday so one would make the assumption that everyone was already at work. But the roads were still stop and go - completely filled with cars. And it was so hot outside! My air conditioning works some but it's not super powerful. So this was the drop in the bucket that made me seriously want to do something to try and fix it. It was much welcome relief to finally arrive in Santa Barbara and enjoy some of the beautiful sites there! In Santa Barbara, we went to the beautiful court house and went up the tower inside. There were beautiful views of the city around. The rooftops were all Spanish tile. It was unlike anything we had ever seen!
My wife's friend, Niki, gave us a free parking pass to Cabrillo National Park. On our last day in San Diego we decided to go check it out. One the way there, we passed this amazing military cemetery, The Gettysburg National Cemetery, overlooking the ocean. We had to stop and explore it more! My wife got some photos of the corvette driving through.
When we arrived - the very first thing I wanted to do was wash my car! We found quite possibly the worst self-service car wash in the world. I'm pretty sure there was no soap in the pressure washer and the foam brush didn't work. I think it made my car dirtier than before. We stopped by Shelter Island before heading over to Seaport Village. There was a beautiful view so we got some fun photos. We could watch the Navy doing exercises across the bay. It was really cool!
After a beautiful day of exploring in Newport and La Jolla - we finally made it down the coast to San Diego. We were staying on Shelter Island which has a great view of the downtown from across the bay. It is such a pretty city! After a delicious dinner in Old Town - we headed to my wife's old college to catch a sunset. San Diego always has the most wonderful sunsets so it was a good ending for our first day!
Recently, my wife and I took a vacation road trip down the CA Coast. We were headed to San Diego but made some stops along the way. The day began with a long HOT drive down the I-5. It was very evident that the valley is in a state of serious drought. We passed by fields of fruit trees that had been uprooted and left to die. Such a sad site. Thankfully though we were just passing through and headed somewhere a bit cooler. With the coastal breezes and the beautiful beaches, Newport was a perfect destination for our first night.
This last weekend my wife and I went for a drive with our good friends Matt and Christine in their Lotus. Matt loves taking his car out on drives and knows the best places to go so we were in for a treat! We started in Mountain View then took 84 to Highway 1 where we then headed down the coast to check out some beautiful sites. We stopped at Highway 1 Brewing Co. and then went on to Felton. There were so many beautiful sites to see with the ocean, wineries, and amazing trees. We continued on Highway 9 for one last amazing view and then headed home. It was really cool! My wife who has lived in the Bay Area almost her entire life was amazed to go to so many new places in one afternoon! One of the perks of working weekends is getting Mondays off. My wife loves Santana Row and we have discovered it is almost always crazy busy except Monday. So this last week we headed over there and enjoyed cruising down the row in the vette followed by a nice dinner.
