Recently, my wife and I took a vacation road trip down the CA Coast. We were headed to San Diego but made some stops along the way. The day began with a long HOT drive down the I-5. It was very evident that the valley is in a state of serious drought. We passed by fields of fruit trees that had been uprooted and left to die. Such a sad site. Thankfully though we were just passing through and headed somewhere a bit cooler. With the coastal breezes and the beautiful beaches, Newport was a perfect destination for our first night.
After we had a blast in Newport checking out the beautiful city and beaches, it was time to get back on the road. We hopped onto CA-73 - a toll road that you surprisingly had to pay online! That baffled my wife and I! Then we to got back on Highway 5 and were amazed by the beautiful oceanside view. We had to stop and get a few photos at the first ocean sighting. It was a much cooler more beautiful drive going down the CA coast!
